Bough this adapter for my elite series 2 controller, after confirming through other asked questions & asking my own question & being told that it does in fact work with Windows 8.1 with all updates installed.

El sistema es básicamente plug n'play así que no hay problemas con usarlo de inmediato, sólo tienes que checar que tus controles tengan la version más reciente del firmware.
