I get where you’re coming from about about the shift from high culture to pop culture, but why not do something about it yourself? Popularity should not be a barometer to gauge quality, etc.My main bugaboo is really not aimed at you or your website – good luck with your endeavors. I see the conflict between Luke’s wanting to go forth out into the galaxy and his hypercorrective rationality which he has learned from all his expectations constantly being too high–this rationality is of course, as Obi-Wan points out when he says “that’s your uncle talking” not the natural nature of Luke. And at 45 years old? I also finally understood the interaction of these notes with the soundtrack of the new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens. I think many Neoclassicists felt the same way in their reaction against the extremes of 20th-century music in their return to the strongly communicative and relatable musical techniques of the early Romanticists and prior. and of course i’m forgetting that a crucial part of the dorian sound is the flattened seventh which is obviously absent in that D Maj chord ….which we hear twice.
