This film had a big budget and you can see the money on screen, the art direction and production design are mnarvelous, the score was also very highly praised and has been copied many times, but it also had an inteligent and witty script that raised it several notches above most other Science Fiction films. It's an entirely different story than we're used to and it isn't afraid to take risks. Go ape and enjoy one of the great ones! But beware this film's sequel, which literally descends into a preachy, futile mess. These topics are still important to us today and were really bold statements for the times. Love it, love it, love it, I was so excited to receive this and it was all that I hoped it would be. What a film, exiting, entertaining, bold, epic, fantastic make up and special effects, a little social comment and of course the always watchable Charlton Heston. It makes you think. Yeah, it's dated.
